The production of pro-inflammatory leukotrienes (LTB4 and 5-HETE) in macrophages of the intestinal wall is then inhibited. Treatment with mesalazine should be discontinued if renal function deteriorates.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eWarnings\u003cbr\u003e\nWarning 1\u003cbr\u003e\nFollowing mesalazine treatment, serious blood dyscrasias have been reported rarely. If the patient develops unexplained bleeding, hematoma bruising, purpura, anemia, persistent fever or sore throat, hematological investigations should be performed.
