Aluminium and Magnesium hydroxide react with stomach acid to neutralise it. Oxethazaine is a strong local anaesthetic which allows it to be used in very dilute solutions. It acts in a number of ways to numb the walls of the stomach and relieve the pain associated with hyperacidic conditions.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eUsage And Safety\u003cbr\u003e\nDosage\u003cbr\u003e\nAdults : 5-10ml 3 or 4 times daily before meals and at bedtime. Children : Not recommended. OR As directed by your physician.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eSide Effects\u003cbr\u003e\nCommon side effects : Antacids containing Magnesium may cause diarrhoea. Antacids containing Aluminium may cause constipation. It is hoped that, in Mucaine suspension, the two effects will balance each other out and not cause any bowel-related side effects.Uncommon side effects : Skin eruptions (dermatitis, hives) – itching skin – inflammation of the tongue – collapse.
