Suprimun 500 mg tablet (containing mycophenolate mofetil) is an immunosuppressant medication used to prevent the body from rejecting a newly transplanted organ, such as a kidney, heart, or liver. It works by weakening the immune system to stop white blood cells from attacking the foreign tissue.
Primary Medical Uses
Kidney Transplants: Helps prevent renal graft rejection, usually taken as 1 g twice daily.
Heart Transplants: Prevents cardiac organ rejection, usually prescribed as 1.5 g twice daily.
Liver Transplants: Prevents hepatic organ rejection, usually prescribed as 1.5 g twice daily.
Autoimmune Conditions: Sometimes used off-label or adjunctly for severe autoimmune diseases like lupus nephritis when standard therapies fail.
Important Safety Guidelines
