Betnovate-N Ointment 20g – Betamethasone Valerate & Neomycin Sulphate for Eczema and Skin Infections

Betnovate-N Ointment 20g is a prescription-only, combination topical medication containing Betamethasone Valerate, a potent corticosteroid, and Neomycin Sulphate, a broad-spectrum antibiotic. This dual-action ointment is designed to treat inflammatory and bacterial skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, and steroid-responsive dermatoses while preventing or treating secondary bacterial infections.

Prescription Requirement

Requires Prescription: Yes

Active Ingredients (Generic Names)

Betamethasone Valerate – potent topical corticosteroid

Neomycin Sulphate – broad-spectrum bactericidal antibiotic

Therapeutic Class

Topical corticosteroid with antibiotic

Anti-inflammatory and antibacterial skin ointment

Uses / Indications

Betnovate-N Ointment is indicated for:

Eczema and atopic dermatitis

Inflammatory dermatoses responsive to steroids

Psoriasis (less responsive forms)

Skin infections caused or complicated by bacteria

It effectively reduces redness, swelling, and itching, while preventing or treating secondary bacterial infections.

How Betnovate-N Ointment Works

Betamethasone Valerate: Produces a rapid anti-inflammatory response by suppressing the immune activity in the skin, relieving itching, redness, and swelling.

Neomycin Sulphate: Acts as a bactericidal agent against common skin bacteria, preventing infection in damaged or inflamed skin.

The combination ensures both anti-inflammatory and antibacterial action, especially in moist or occluded areas prone to infection.
