It serves as a replacement of estrogen during menopause and in the period preceding it and thereby improves the symptoms which may appear. The additional hormone in this is progestogen, which contributes to regulation of the bleeding and lowers the chance of developing uterine cancer, in comparison to women treated with estrogen alone.
