How it works
Its anticholinergic action exerts a smooth-muscle relaxing/spasmolytic effect. Blockade of the muscarinic receptors in the GI tract is the basis for its use in the treatment of abdominal pain secondary to cramping. Hyoscine butylbromide also binds to nicotinic receptors, which induces a ganglion-blocking effect.

Usage And Safety
Dosage
Infant: 1 teaspoon 3 times daily. 1- 6 years: 1-2 teaspoons 3 times daily. Over 6 years: 2 teaspoons 3-5 times daily or as directed by your physician.

Side Effects
Constipation , transient bradycardia (followed by tachycardia , palpitation and arrhythmias) , reduced bronchial secretions , urinary urgency and retention, dilatation of the pupils with loss of accomodation .

Drug Interactions
It may interact with amantadine, atenolol, digoxin, tricyclic antidepressent,anticholinergics, antihistamines & parasympathomimetics.

Indication
Symptomatic relief of gastro-intestinal or genito-urinary disorders characterized by smooth muscle spasm excessive respiratory secretions, and bowel colic in palliative care.

When not to Use
Hypersensitivityto the ingredients listed.

Use with caution in case of Down's syndrome.
